This International Summer School has been annually organized for the last fourteen years by the Institute of Materials Science Nicolás Cabrera belonging to the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, and has evolved into one of the most significant scientific events in our country. School location is a University Summer residence, located in Miraflores de la Sierra, a nice mountain resort 50 km out of the city of Madrid. This Summer School will take place shortly after the Cryoconference, which will be held from 8-13 September at the same location.

OBJECTIVES
The aim of this Summer School is to provide graduate students, post docs, and last year undergraduates with exceptional marks and motivation for physics, of a general introductory overview of some of the most exciting topical developments on Condensed Matter and Nanoscopic Physics. The Summer School will consist on a series of introductory lectures given by internationally recognized leading experts. The school will span a wide range of topics across low temperature physics, connected by common theoretical or experimental methods, with the main aim to give the students an overview of some of the most intriguing open questions and of the technical abilities required to be able to make successful top level research close to absolute zero.

PARTICIPANTS
The International Summer School is primarily addressed to young researchers and students with interest in Condensed Matter Physics and Nanotechnology, and a background in physics. The maximum number of participants will be around 60 including about twenty invited speakers that are internationally recognized experts.Scholarships covering full board (no travel expenses) will be provided for students, their number depending on the financial support obtained. The Summer School is organized within the framework of the excellence research program “Science and Technology at the milikelvin” (CITECNOMIK), funded by the Region of Madrid, and is also supported by the BBVA, UAM, CONSOLIDER-INGENIO 2010 "Molecular Nanoscience" and IMDEA .
